Creation of the Sun, Moon and Stars

Genesis 1:14-19

God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them be signs to indicate seasons and days and years, and let them serve as lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." It was so. God made two great lights -- the greater light to rule over the day and the lesser light to rule over the night. He made the stars also. God placed the lights in the expanse of the sky to shine on the earth, to preside over the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good. There was evening, and there was morning, a fourth day. (NET)

Think About It!

Did you know the sun is a star? Stars are giant balls of fire! Without the sun, we would not have light, heat or energy. Life exists on earth because of the sun. Light is wonderful! God is light.

Do you know the moon has no light of its' own? It reflects, or gives off the sun's light. You are like the moon – made to reflect light. The light you reflect is God's light, and the light of His son Jesus. Proverbs 13:9 says, “The light of the righteous shines brightly....”

Do It!

Let your light shine for God today. Cheer someone up.
Tell them God loves them.

Stand On It!

The godly bask in the light; the morally upright experience joy.
Psalms 97:11
